Myles Turner Named ODAC Men’s Basketball Player Of The Week

FOREST, Va. - Emory & Henry College's Myles Turner has been selected as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, ODAC officials announced Monday. It is the first time since the final week of the 2013-14 season that an E&H player has received this honor.

The sophomore from Richmond, Va., led the Wasps to a 2-1 record in three road games last week.  Emory & Henry posted victories over Bridgewater College, 72-68, Wednesday and defeated Eastern Mennonite University, 81-78, Saturday. For the week, Turner averaged 19.3 points to lead the team on 17-for-43 (39.5%) shooting and added 5.3 rebounds per contest.

Wednesday against the Eagles, Tuner contributed 13 points, three rebounds, five assists and three steals, going four-for-seven from the free throw line. The squad outlasted Bridgewater thanks to advantages on three-point shooting and success at the charity stripe.

Saturday night in E&H's 81-78 win over EMU, Tuner went for 28 points to finish just two points off of his career high. He added six rebounds, three assists and three steals and was 11-for-14 from the free throw line. The Wasps shot 44.1 percent from the floor as they eclipsed last year's win total with their fifth victory of the season.

Turner also had 17 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals in Emory & Henry's 11-point setback to Hampden-Sydney Monday evening.

Emory & Henry (5-18, 4-10 ODAC) will conclude the 2014-15 regular season with a pair of home games. The Wasps will host Randolph College on Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m., and welcome Randolph-Macon College for a 4:00 p.m., game Saturday.
