EMORY, Va. – The Randolph-Macon College Men's Basketball Team (10-8, 6-3 ODAC) defeated Emory & Henry College (10-9, 5-5 ODAC) in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference contest Saturday afternoon at Bob Johnson Court. The Yellow Jackets shot 54.4 percent (31-for-57) from the field en route to the victory.
R-MC started things out with an 8-1 lead at the 16:40 mark of the first half and pushed its advantage to double digits for the first time, 18-8, with 12:52 to go before intermission. The Yellow Jackets would go up by as much as 16 points (41-25) in the opening 20 minutes as they hit on a total of 12 three-point attempts on the afternoon.
The Wasps came out of the locker room on a 17-6 run to get within one possession of the lead, 47-44, with 13:15 on the clock. Randolph-Macon answered with a 14-5 scoring spurt to get its lead back above 10, capping the run with back-to-back three-pointers. The squads traded baskets for a three minute period midway through the half, but a 14-4 run gave R-MC its largest lead of the game, 82-63 with 2:25 to go. E&H scored four of the final six points, but would get no closers than the 84-67 final margin.
Randolph-Macon was paced by a pair of 22-point performances from Lamont Moore and Grayson Midulla as Midulla hit on five-of-six three point changes. Moore added eight rebounds and five assists while Daniel Noe had 13 points, seven boards and three assists. Jamie Wilson chipped in 12 points as the fourth Jacket to reach double figures. R-MC led 17-10 on points off turnovers and had a 33-29 rebounding advantage in the game.
Emory & Henry junior guard Ryan Gravley (Austinville, Va.) had a team-high 15 points, going eight-for-nine at the free throw line. Junior guard Myles Turner (Richmond, Va.) and junior forward Brandon Self (Norfolk, Va.) added 13 and 12 points, respectively while sophomore forward Chase Branscomb (Bristol, Tenn.) tacked on 11 points on five-of-eight shooting off the bench. As a team, the Wasps doubled the Yellow Jackets' scoring at the free throw line, 20-10, and led 30-26 on points in the paint. E&H shot 42.0 percent (21-for-50) from the floor and managed just five threes in the game, however.
Emory & Henry will return to action on Tuesday evening when it travels to Washington and Lee University for an ODAC contest. Tipoff between the Wasps and Generals is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
