EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Basketball Team (8-4, 2-1 ODAC) battled through an extra five minutes of play with Lynchburg College (7-5, 1-2 ODAC) Wednesday evening, earning a 102-91 victory in its home Old Dominion Athletic Conference opener.

How It Happened
- LC got out to an 11-5 lead at the 15:23 mark of the first half, but E&H kept it a two possession game until an 8-2 run by the Hornets put them up 27-20 with 7:45 left before the break.
- The Wasps answered with 11-straight to go up 31-27 with 4:19 on the clock and led by as much as six down the stretch of the opening 20 minutes. Lynchburg would finish the half with another 8-2 run to make the score 41-41 at the intermission.
- Coming out of the break, the Hornets went up 49-45 early. The second half featured five ties and 15 lead changes, most of which came in an eight-minute span between 15:03 and 7:25. Down by one with 7:44 to play, Lynchburg scored 12 of the next 14 points to lead 81-72 with 3:07 on the clock.
- Emory & Henry scored six-straight to make it a one-possession game, as freshman guard Colin Molden (Apex, N.C.) hit a three-pointer and converted a trio of free throws after being fouled on another three-point attempt.
- A layup by LC with 54 seconds remaining made it a five-point game but Molden struck back with another triple and a layup by senior guard Myles Turner (Richmond, Va.) tied the game, 83-all, with 24 seconds to go.
- Lynchburg's Zack Burnett's attempt to win the game in regulation was swatted away by Molden, and the squads prepped for overtime.
- The Hornets struck first in the extra period, going up 86-83, but the Wasps scored the next 13 points for the first double-digit lead of the contest. Lynchburg would cut the margin to nine on two different occasions in the final 35 seconds of the game, but Emory & Henry hit its final six free throws to win, 102-91.
Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- The Wasps saw six different players score at least 10 points led by Molden with a game-high 23. He hit 6-of-12 of his attempts from the field including 5-of-7 from beyond the arc and added eight assists, two steals and a block.
- Sophomore forward Aaron Ferguson (Princeton, W.Va.) had 20 points and seven boards off the bench while sophomore forward Alic Wynn (Asheville, N.C.) notched his second-straight double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
- Turner and sophomore guard Clif Conley (Galax, Va.) each had 12 points, as Conley was 4-for-4 from long range, while junior guard John Shelor (Giles, Va.) tacked on 10 points.
Lynchburg Individual Leaders
- Connor Schroeder had 22 points and seven rebounds to pace the Hornets, while Burnett was close behind with 21 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals.
- Logan Seacrist put up 16 points and two boards while Lyndon White had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry went 52.1 percent (37-for-71) from the field, including an 11-for-21 (52.4%) performance from beyond the arc. The Wasps also hit 17-of-20 (85%) of their free throw attempts on the evening.
- LC shot 36-for-74 (48.6%) for the game but struggled from long range, connecting on just 20 percent (4-for-20) of its three-point chances. The Hornets were 15-for-25 (60%) from the charity stripe.
- Emory & Henry held a 41-38 lead on rebounding but Lynchburg led 13-7 on second chance points with its 13-11 advantage on the offensive glass.
- The Hornets forced the Wasps into 22 turnovers which they cashed in for 18 points while E&H scored 16 points off 14 LC miscues.
- Lynchburg held a 54-46 lead on points in the paint, but Emory & Henry's 33-12 advantage on three-point shooting proved a major factor in the win.

- Emory & Henry will have its third home game in a row Saturday when it hosts Randolph College in ODAC action. Tipoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
