INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Basketball Team is ranked eighth for the second NCAA Division III South Regional rankings period of the 2016-17 season, NCAA officials announced Wednesday. E&H is one of three Old Dominion Athletic Conference programs rated in the top eight regionally.
Emory & Henry (16-7, 10-4 ODAC) has won five straight and 11 of its last 14 games and has already earned a bye to the Quarterfinals of next week's ODAC Tournament. It is the first time since the NCAA began ranking teams regionally in the 1998-99 season that the Wasps have been recognized as one of the top programs in the South.
Guilford College is the top-ranked team in the region this week with a 19-4 record. Concordia University Texas is second while Hardin-Simmons University is third. Joining E&H and Guilford from the ODAC is Randolph-Macon College (sixth).
Emory & Henry will travel to face off against region-leading Guilford on Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. The Quakers topped the Wasps by a 76-59 score on Wednesday, January 18.
