Daniel Spencer has been named ODAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week

FOREST, Va. - Emory & Henry College's Daniel Spencer has been selected as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, ODAC officials announced Monday. It is the second time in as many weeks that an E&H player has been honored by the league office.

The sophomore from Concord, North Carolina led the Wasps to a pair of key league wins last week as they defeated Guilford College (95-77) and Virginia Wesleyan University (89-83).

Spencer, who tops the ODAC in scoring among non-starters with 13.2 points per game, led all players with 21 points at Guilford Wednesday. He shot 7-for-13 from the field with eight rebounds, two assists and two steals, going 5-for-6 from the free throw line.

Saturday against Virginia Wesleyan, Spencer made it another 20-point contest with 22 points on 8-for-11 shooting, four rebounds and three steals. For the week, Spencer averaged 21.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals while shooting 62.5 percent from the field.

Emory & Henry (12-1, 4-0 ODAC) is undefeated through four conference games for the first time since the 1992-93 season when it won its first 10 ODAC contests. E&H also opened the year with a 10-0 record, its best start since that 1992-93 campaign when it reached the NCAA Division III Sweet 16.

The Wasps will return to the court on Tuesday when they host the Maroons of Roanoke College (8-5, 1-3 ODAC) in a league matchup. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
