Emory & Henry Men’s Basketball Third In First NCAA Division III South Region Rankings

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Basketball Team is ranked No. 3 in the NCAA Division III South Region, NCAA officials announced Wednesday. The Wasps are one of two Old Dominion Athletic Conference schools to appear in the first regional ranking of the 2017-18 season.

Emory & Henry currently boasts an 18-3 overall record with a 10-2 mark in conference play. The Wasps have put together winning streaks of 10 and eight games over the course of the season with the best start to both the season and conference schedule since the 1992-93 campaign. This marks the second year in a row that E&H has been ranked regionally by the NCAA. The Wasps finished the 2016-17 season as the No. 5 team in the South.

Randolph-Macon College is the top team in the region this week with a 16-5 record while Emory University is second. Methodist University is fourth while Sul Ross State out of Alpine, Texas is fifth.

E&H has a pair of non-conference opponents appearing in the rankings. Maryville (Tenn.) College is sixth in the South while The College of Wooster is second in the Great Lakes Region.

Emory & Henry will host Guilford College on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m.
