Emory & Henry Men’s Basketball Tops Hampden-Sydney, 105-94, Saturday Afternoon

HAMPDEN SYDNEY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Basketball Team (12-6, 5-4 ODAC) shot 71.0 percent (22-for-31) in the second half and made a total of 17 three-pointers on its way to a 105-94 win over Hampden-Sydney College (4-11, 1-7 ODAC) Saturday on the road.

The 105 points scored by E&H were the most since a 109-86 win over Shenandoah University on January 14, 2017. It was the eighth time in the past four seasons that the Wasps have eclipsed the century mark in scoring.

How It Happened
- The Wasps and Tigers traded buckets throughout the first half with E&H holding the edge, 38-35, at the half.
- The first 6:47 of the second half saw the squads continue to throw daggers with a 16-5 Emory & Henry run putting some space on the scoreboard for the first time all afternoon, 68-58, with 10:17 to play.
- An 18-6 run later in the period gave the Wasps their largest lead of the day, 94-75, as they cruised to the 105-94 win over the final three minutes of the contest.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Junior guard Daniel Spencer (Concord, N.C.) led all players with 32 points, nine rebounds, five assists and three steals. It was his second time scoring more than 30 this season as he made six three-pointers.
- Sophomore guard Tharon Suggs (Raleigh, N.C.) scored 21 of his 24 points in the second half, finishing with six triples, four rebounds and four assists.
- Senior forward Alic Wynn (Asheville, N.C.) added 17 points and seven rebounds going 8-for-10 from the field.

Hampden-Sydney Individual Leaders
- Kevin Quinn had 23 points off the bench for the Tigers, while Jake Hahn scored 20 points with three rebounds and two assists.
- Cole Atwood put up 17 points on a perfect 5-for-5 from long range while Brendan McHale has 11 points, nine assists and three rebounds.

 A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry shot 56.9 percent (37-for-65) for the game and was 17-for-32 (53.1%) from long range. The Wasps also made 14-of-18 (77.8%) of their free throws.
- Hampden-Sydney scorched the net from long range as well, making 14 threes on 70 percent shooting. The Tigers went 34-for-57 (59.6%) from the field and 12-for-15 (80%) at the line.
- E&H held a 34-20 rebounding advantage and a 15-5 margin on the offensive glass. The Wasps used that for a 14-11 lead on second-chance points.
- Both squads shared the ball well, as Emory & Henry dished-out 24 assists to 21 for HSC.

Up Next
- Emory & Henry will be off on Wednesday due to a scheduled bye, but will return to the court next Saturday when it hosts Washington and Lee University.
- Tipoff between the Wasps and Generals is set for 2:00 p.m.
