Daniel Spencer Named To The VaSID All-State First Team

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Emory & Henry College junior guard Daniel Spencer has been tabbed to the VaSID All-State College Division First Team, VaSID officials announced Wednesday. The Concord, North Carolina native adds all-state recognition to his All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference award from February.

Spencer averaged a league-best 18.6 points per game during the regular season with nine 20-point games and three 30-point contests, including a career-high 38 against Shenandoah University on November 25. He also averaged 6.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.6 steals per game and has four double-doubles to his credit.

Emory & Henry posted a 17-10 overall record and a 9-7 mark in league play. The Wasps were the No. 7 seed in the ODAC Tournament, advancing to the conference quarterfinals.

Buzz Anthony of Randolph-Macon College was named State Player of the Year while Christopher Newport University's John Krikorian was honored as State Coach of the Year. University of Mary Washington freshman Greg Rowson earned State Rookie of the Year accolades.

The VaSID All-State teams are selected by sports information directors of member institutions of the Virginia Sports Information Directors across the Commonwealth of Virginia. VaSID, founded in 1983, selects teams in two divisions (University and College) for 12 sports and three single-division teams in addition to Academic All-State teams across all sports.
