#1 Roanoke Men’s Basketball Topples Eighth-Seeded Emory & Henry, 98-73, In ODAC Tournament Quarterfinals

SALEM, Va. – The top-seeded Roanoke College Men's Basketball Team (10-1) built a 42-27 halftime lead over #8 Emory & Henry College (0-8) en route to a 98-73 win in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Tournament Quarterfinals Friday evening.

How It Happened
- The Maroons jumped out to a 12-0 lead just three minutes into the contest and pushed their advantage to 27-9 with 9:43 to go before the intermission. Emory & Henry scored nine in a row to close the gap to nine (27-18) with 5:51 on the clock but Roanoke stretched its lead back to 42-27 at the break.
- After two and a half scoreless minutes to start the second half, the squads traded baskets for several possessions leading to six straight points by RC to grab the first 20-point advantage of the game, 52-32, with 15:12 on the clock. The Wasps cut the deficit to 14 (61-47) with less than 10 minutes remaining, but the Maroons went on a 25-7 run to make the score 86-54 with 4:37 left, sealing the victory.
- E&H was able to trim the margin to 20 in the final minute but RC scored the last five points down the stretch for the 98-73 final margin.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Sophomore guard Malcolm Morgan (Concord, N.C.) led the Wasps with 18 points, eight rebounds, six assists and two steals off the bench while junior forward Tyler Arnold (Kingsport, Tenn.) had 14 points.
- Sophomore guard Kevin Grau Rodriguez (Tampa, Fla.) notched 12 points and three boards, while senior guard Robert Holliday, Jr. (Kansas, City, Kan.) added 11 points and six rebounds.

Roanoke Individual Leaders
- Efosa Edosomwan posted a game-high 22 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double, adding four assists and three steals while Justin Kuthan had 18 points and nine boards off the bench.
- Tripp Greene scored 18 points of his own as Kasey Draper went for 11 points and 10 rebounds to make his double-double.

A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry made 33.3 percent (24-of-72) of its field goals, connecting on a dozen three-pointers. The Wasps struggled at the free throw line, hitting just 13-of-22 (59.1%) of their uncontested shots.
- Roanoke shot 50.7 percent (34-of-67) for the game and hit nearly 65 percent of its shots in the second half. The Maroons also knocked down 12 threes and made 78.3 percent (18-of-23) of their free throws.
- RC held a 53-37 rebounding advantage and outscored E&H, 40-20, on points in the paint.
