Emory & Henry Men’s Golf Finishes 14th At Shenandoah Invitational

WINCHESTER, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Golf Team completed its first tournament since the end of the 2007-08 season Monday. The Wasps posted a 14th-place finish at the Shenandoah Invitational out of 15 competing teams. The tournament was played as a two-day, 36-hole event at Winchester Country Club.

Emory & Henry
- E&H shot 12 strokes higher in Monday's round two (327 / +43) than on Sunday to fall from a four-way tie for sixth to 14th.
- Freshman Carlos Andrade (Samborondón, ECUADOR) finished in a six-way tie for 10th at plus-nine (151), shooting a +8 (79) to follow up yesterday's 72.
- Freshman Ben Owen (Rogersville, Tenn.) responded with a team-low 78 on Monday for a two-day score of 163 (+21).
- Freshman Luke Montalbano (Rumford, R.I.) and freshman Richard Fishwick (Roanoke, Va.) were third and fourth on the team with scores of 164 (+22) and 165 (+23), respectively.
- Freshman Tanner Carter (Saltville, Va.) rounded out the field at +34 (176) for the tournament

The Leaders
- Bruce Shober led Hampden-Sydney College to the team title, following up his Day One score of 71 with a 70 to finish -1.
- Alex Simmons was tied for third (+4) while Aaron Persily tied for fifth (+5) to give the Tigers three in the top five of competition.
- Hampden-Sydney won the tournament with a +15 (583) while Stevenson University finished 10 shots back (+25 / 593) as the team runner-up.

Up Next
- Emory & Henry will play next Monday and Tuesday in the King (Tenn.) University Invitational, held at the Country Club of Bristol.
