EMORY, Va. – Emory & Henry College Head Men's & Women's Golf Coach Bill Pearce has resigned his position to return to the classroom as a middle school teacher.

"We appreciate Bill stepping in midway through the season to lead our golf programs," commented Interim Director of Athletics Anne Crutchfield. "We wish him the best of luck as he returns to the classroom."

Pearce joined the E&H Athletics staff in January and led the Wasps men's and women's golf programs through their spring season. Both program showed significant improvement both from an individual and team perspective.

The women's team completed their first-ever season with each player on the roster improving their scoring average from the fall to the spring. E&H concluded the season with a fifth-place finish at the 2018 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships out of nine participating schools.

The men's team saw one of its players finish as the individual runner-up finish at the UMW Eagle Invitational in March. The Wasps ended the 2017-18 campaign with a 10th-place performance at this year's ODAC Championship Tournament.

The search for Emory & Henry's next Head Men's & Women's Golf Coach will begin immediately. Assistant coach Brent Treash will assume the role of Interim Head Men's & Women's Golf Coach while the search is being conducted.
