Emory & Henry Men's Golf Takes Eighth At Milligan’s Mountain Empire Intercollegiate

ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Golf Team concluded the 2021-22 season on Tuesday by finishing eighth at the Mountain Empire Intercollegiate, hosted by Milligan University.

Day One - Monday
Freshman Jhon Ojeda (Cali, COLOMBIA) shot a -1 (71) on day one to lead the Wasps while sophomore Sam Vandyne (Max Meadows, Va.) was second on the squad at +7 (79). Freshman Alex Boone (Clyde, N.C.) carded an 82 (+10).

Fifth-year Isfandyar Khan (Lahore, PAKISTAN), freshman Peerapol Huangching (Rayong, THAILAND) and freshman Trent Gehringer (Fleetwood, Pa.) all turned in an 84 (+12).

Day Two – Tuesday
Ojeda was named to the all-tournament team as he finished tied for fifth at -1 with an even-par round of 72 on Tuesday.

Vandyne finished in a tie for 37th overall after posting a 78 (+6) to finish at +13 while Boone shaved six strokes off his round one score to shoot a 76 (+4) and finish tied for 42nd at +14.

Khan completed the tournament with a +7 round of 79 and ended the tournament T-51st (+19). Huangching carded an 82 (+10) in the second round which was good for an overall score of +22 and a finish tied for 57th. Gehringer rounded out the team as he shot a 90 to finish the tournament at 63rd (+28).

The Winners
Truett McConnell University's Michael Osborne claimed medalist honors with a score of -8 (69-67 –136) to win over Milligan's Alvaro Huidobro by three shots.

Milligan took the team title with a score of -9 (282-285 – 567), besting Truett McConnell by 11 strokes (+2). Reinhardt University was third at +4.
