Emory & Henry Men’s Golf Takes Fourth At King Invitational Tuesday

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Golf Team shot its best two-day score in program history to finish fourth at +16 at the King University Invitational on Tuesday. The back-to-back rounds of 288 carded by the Wasps is the best 36-hole performance in the seven-year modern era of the program.

Emory & Henry
Freshman Slade Aliff (Hardy, Va.) posted a three-shot improvement over Monday with an even par 70 to finish in a four-way tie for eighth (+3) as junior Avery Alexander (Christiansburg, Va.) trimmed one shot off his total from yesterday to card a 72 (+2) and end up at +5 for the tournament and tied for 14th overall.

Freshman Jordan Kyaw (Yangon, MYANMAR) carved eight strokes off of his round one tally with to shoot even par (70) as he moved up 18 spots to tie for 25th at +8 for the tournament. Sophomore Jhon Ojeda (Cali, COLOMBIA) turned in a 76 (+6) on Tuesday, finishing the tournament tied for 21st.

Freshman Peyton Spangler (Roanoke, Va.) rounded out the team with a 77 (+7) to also finish as part of the tie for 25th place.

The Winners
Tusculum University grabbed the team win at +4 (287-277 – 564) with two players in the top five, defeating Erskine College's "B Team" by 10 strokes.

Tusculum's Thomas Kollberg posted a -3 (67) on Tuesday to claim medalist honors at -4 for the tournament (69-67 – 136) by two shots over Johannes Lindstrom of Erskine "B" and Beam Ratanaprasartporn of King "B."

E&H will be back in action on Monday, October 3 when it beings play in The Scotch Invitational, hosted by St. Andrews University. The tournament will be played at Scotch Meadows Country Club in Laurinburg, North Carolina.
