Emory & Henry Men’s Golf Second At The Buzz Off Invitational Following 18 Holes

ABINGDON, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Golf Team sits in second place out of three teams after the first round of the Buzz Off Invitational Saturday. The Wasps have six players within the top 10 and ties after 18 holes.

Emory & Henry
Sophomore Alex Boone (Clyde, Va.) leads the field by four strokes as an individual after carding a -1 (71) during Saturday's round.

Junior Avery Alexander (Christiansburg, Va.) is in a three-way tie for fifth after carding a 79 (+7). Freshman Jordan Kuang Kyaw (Yangon, MYANMAR) shot an 80 (+8) and is in ninth while the E&H team score was rounded out by sophomore Jhon Ojeda (Cali, COLOMBIA) and freshman Slade Aliff (Hardy, Va.) with scores of 81 (+9), tying for 10th.

E&H individual freshman Peyton Spangler (Roanoke, Va.) is also tied for 10th at +9 while sophomores Peerapol Huangching (Rayong, THAILAND) and Trent Gehringer (Fleetwood, Pa.) sitting at 14th (+12) and 15th (+13) respectively.

Junior Sam Vandyne (Max Meadows, Va.) rounds out the E&H delegation at +15 (87) tied for 16th overall.

The Leaders
Bluefield University leads the team competition after shooting a 308 (+20) with four players in the top five. The Rams lead E&H by 13 shots.

E&H's Boone is the clubhouse leader as the only player under par after Saturday's round. He leads Bluefield's Evan Matlick and Noah Moler by four shots (+3).

The Wasps will conclude the fall season on Sunday with the final round of the Buzz Off Invitational.
