Emory & Henry Men’s Golf Takes Second At Buzz Off Invitational Sunday

ABINGDON, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Golf Team finished in second place at the Buzz Off Invitational Sunday. In addition to one of its players taking medalist honors, the Wasps placed six within the top 10 and ties.

Sophomore Alex Boone (Clyde, Va.) shot a 78 (+6) on Sunday but his day one score was enough to give him the event win at +5 (71-78 – 149).

Freshman Slade Aliff (Hardy, Va.) tied for third place after posting a low round of even par (72) to finish at +9 (81-72 – 153) while sophomore Jhon Ojeda (Cali, COLOMBIA)  was one over par at 73 to finish one shot back in fifth at +10 (81-73 – 154).

Freshman Jordan Kuang Kyaw (Yangon, MYANMAR) carded a 76 (+4) for a tie for sixth place at +12 (80-76 – 156) with freshman Peyton Spangler (Roanoke, Va.) going for a 78 (+6) in round two to tie for eighth at +15 (81-78 – 159).

Sophomore Peerapol Huangching (Rayong, THAILAND) tied for 10th at +16 (84-76 – 160) as junior Avery Alexander (Christiansburg, Va.) posted a T-13th finish at +19 with a round two score of 84 (+12).

Sophomore Trent Gehringer (Fleetwood, Pa.) and junior Sam Vandyne (Max Meadows, Va.) rounded out the team as they finished 15th (85-86 – 171; +27) and tied for 16th (87-86 – 17; +29), respectively.

The Winners
Boone claimed medalist honors by one stroke at +5, topping Bluefield University's Noah Moler (75-75 – 150) at +6.

The Rams won the team title with a two-day score of 612 (+36), beating the Wasps by eight shots (321-299 – 620) at +44.

Up Next
The Wasps will return to action in the spring of 2023.
