Emory & Henry Men’s Soccer Defeats Ferrum, 3-0, Behind Peralta’s Hat Trick

FERRUM, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Soccer Team (1-0) was able to get the better end of their season opener with Ferrum College (0-1) Thursday night as the Wasps picked up the 3-0 victory. The win was the first for Nathan Kish, who is in his rookie year as E&H head coach.

Just over five minutes into the contest, sophomore forward Luis Peralta (Robbins, N.C.) found the back of the net, converting a pass from junior midfielder Jacob Exum (Hendersonville, Tenn.) to give the Wasps a 1-0 advantage.

E&H's lead quickly increased as Peralta scored his second goal of the match just seconds later. Emory & Henry would take the 2-0 advantage into halftime and a one-hour lightning delay.

When play resumed, Ferrum fought to get back into the match but Peralta struck again in the 53rd minute, this time slipping past the defense and burying a pass from freshman forward Konnor Dozark (Tampa, Fla.).

Junior goalkeeper Justin Spencer (Statesville, N.C.) tallied two saves in his debut as E&H's net-minder, while Ferrum's Justin Robinson tallied four saves despite the loss.

Emory & Henry is set to host the E&H Classic this weekend at Fred Selfe Stadium. The Wasps will take on Huntingdon College on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
