Roanoke Men's Soccer Defeats Emory & Henry, 1-0, Wednesday In ODAC Play

EMORY, Va. - The Roanoke College Men's Soccer Team (5-2-1, 2-0-1 ODAC) picked up a 1-0 decision Wednesday night over Emory & Henry College (3-4, 1-2 ODAC) in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action.

Late in the 20th minute Roanoke picked up the lone goal of the match. Peyton Lambert found the head of A.J. Tierce on a corner kick and Tierce was able to put the ball past the keeper.

Both team had opportunities for more goals, but the score would remain 1-0 in favor of the visiting Maroons.

Roanoke held the advantage in shots (19-5) and in corner kicks (5-2) in the contest.

Avery Makel picked up the shutout in goal for the Maroons while Emory & Henry junior goalkeeper Justin Spencer (Statesville, N.C.) tallied seven saves despite the loss.

E&H will return to the pitch on Saturday afternoon when it host Randolph-Macon College. Match time is set for 3:00 p.m.
