Lynchburg Men's Soccer Defeats Emory & Henry, 2-1, In Overtime

EMORY, Va. - The Lynchburg College Men's Soccer Team (5-7-2, 3-2-2 ODAC) needed two-and-a-half minutes of extra time Saturday night, but succeeded in defeating Emory & Henry College (4-10, 1-7 ODAC) by a 2-1 score in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action.

The contest served as Senior Night for the Wasps as Brian Butler (Shelby, N.C.), Jon Kirschmeier (Basking Ridge, N.J.) and P.J. Henson (Charlotte, N.C.) were honored during the pre-match festivities.

After a scoreless first half, the Hornets scored their first goal of the contest at the 52:17 mark as Luke Moore converted a free kick from 30 yards out.

Emory & Henry got the equalizer on a penalty kick with just 20 minutes to play. Junior midfielder Will Bodfish (Morganton, N.C.) took the penalty for the Wasps.

The match went the full 90 minutes with the score tied 1-1 and the two teams were set to battle for overtime. Luke Moore found Mustapha Dumbuya on a corner kick for the victory in the 93rd minute.

Emory & Henry will face Covenant College on Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m., in its final home contest of the 2011 season.
