Covenant Men's Soccer Defeats Emory & Henry, 2-0, Wednesday Evening

EMORY, Va. - The Covenant College Men's Soccer Team (6-6-2) picked up a 2-0 win in non-conference play Wednesday evening as it defeated Emory & Henry College (4-11) at Fred Selfe Stadium.

The Scots scored their first goal of the match just 3:34 into the contest. Garrison Dale took a pass from Hunter Harrison from the midfield that he headed past the keeper. E&H and Covenant would go into the half at a 1-1 tie.

After the break, Covenant got an insurance goal at the 75:00 mark. Harrison took a free kick and fed the ball into the box where Chris Pifer placed the ball into the upper left corner for the score.

John Eger made five saves as he picked up the complete-match shutout for the Scots while Emory & Henry freshman Micah Varner (Charlotte, N.C.) tallied four saves in the second half for the Wasps.

Emory & Henry will travel to Virginia Beach, Va., on Saturday to take on the Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan College. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m.
