Emory & Henry Men’s Soccer Gets Past Ferrum, 1-0, Wednesday At Home

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Soccer Team (1-2) picked up its first win of the year over previously unbeaten Ferrum College (2-1) at Fred Selfe Stadium Wednesday afternoon.

The Wasps earned the 1-0 victory thanks to a goal by freshman defender Tory Schneider (Williamsburg, Va.) in the 65th minute. Schneider saw the Ferrum goalkeeper out of position and played a ball from close to midfield. The shot threw the keeper off balance and while at first he made the save, his momentum carried him into the goal with the ball.

E&H senior goalkeeper Justin Spencer (Statesville, N.C.) picked up the shutout, stopping five shots while Ferrum's Justin Robinson had three saves on the night.

Emory & Henry will remain at home this weekend for two matches. The Wasps will face the Knights of Southern Virginia University on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., while the Scots of Maryville (Tenn.) College will visit Fred Selfe Stadium on Sunday at 3:00 p.m.
