Emory & Henry Men’s Soccer Beats Shenandoah, 1-0, Friday For First ODAC Win

WINCHESTER, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Soccer Team (3-2-1, 1-1 ODAC) remained undefeated all-time against Shenandoah University (3-5, 0-2 ODAC) with a 1-0 victory in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play Friday evening at Shentel Stadium.

With their second straight win against the Hornets, the Wasps run the all-time series record to 3-0-2.

The two teams only managed eight shots in the contest combined. Emory & Henry only notched one shot in the 90 minutes but took full advantage of it to earn the result.

The Wasps got on the board in the 74th minute. After a failed clearance by the Shenandoah defense inside the penalty area, freshman forward Keith Norris (Marion, Va.) saw an opportunity to pounce on the ball and put it in the back of the net.

Shenandoah had the advantage for most of the contest as it led 10-2 on corner kicks and was called offside on seven different occasions.

Sophomore goalkeeper Didier Grillet (Matthews, N.C.) earned the shutout win for E&H as he tallied five saves.

Emory & Henry's 3-2-1 record is the best start to the season since 2008 when the Wasps went 4-2-1 after losing their first two matches to open the year.

E&H will have a full week off before its next contest. The team will travel to face Bridgewater College in ODAC play Saturday, September 27 at 4:00 p.m.
