ASHLAND, Va. – The Randolph-Macon College Men's Soccer Team (3-9, 1-5 ODAC) picked up a 4-1 Old Dominion Athletic Conference win over visiting Emory & Henry College (3-7-1, 1-5 ODAC) Saturday afternoon.
Emory & Henry got on the board first as sophomore Zach Quest (Charlotte, N.C.) scored his team-leading fifth goal of the year just 5:32 into the match.
The Yellow Jackets responded with the equalizer just 41 seconds later when Ryan White served a ball up for Sam Bowen, who put it in the back of the net.
Randolph-Macon took the lead in the 15th minute when Andrew Oakes scored off of a pass from Greg Noordanus. Just after the half-hour mark, Brian Lutz gave R-MC a 3-1 advantage. Oakes was credited with the assist.
With 17:24 to go in the contest, Tyler Slayton scored for the Yellow Jackets to make the final margin, 4-1.
Randolph-Macon held a 24-4 advantage on shots and earned eight corner kicks compared to three for E&H.
C.J. Montalbano picked up the win in goal for the Yellow Jackets as he made two saves. Emory & Henry freshman Daniel Scharisch (Newport News, Va.) made eight saves despite the loss.
Emory & Henry will return home on Wednesday when it hosts Eastern Mennonite University in a ODAC contest at Fred Selfe Stadium. Kickoff between the Wasps and Royals is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
