Washington and Lee Men’s Soccer Slips By Emory & Henry, 2-0, Wednesday Evening

EMORY, Va. – The Washington and Lee University Men's Soccer Team (11-4-1, 6-4-1 ODAC) scored a pair of second-half goals en route to a 2-0 win over Emory & Henry College (3-12-1, 1-10 ODAC) Wednesday evening at Fred Selfe Stadium. It was the final regular season contest for both squads.

The first 45 minutes of play ended like it began, with a 0-0 tie on the scoreboard. Emory & Henry sophomore goalkeeper Didier Grillet (Charlotte, N.C.) made five saves in the opening period of play to keep a clean sheet going.

The Wasps continued their solid play for the first 15 minutes of the second half, but the Generals broke through with a goal in the 60th minute. Andrew Kim swung in a corner that found Patrick Barry inside the box. Barry then hammered it home, giving Washington and Lee a 1-0 lead.

The second goal came with just 14:45 left in the match. Jake Roberts took a pass from Ted Hurst coming down the right side and hit a sharp-angled shot that found the back of the net.

Washington and Lee held a 21-3 advantage on shots in the contest and led 10-5 on corner kicks.  Grillet finished the match with seven saves for the Wasps while Albert Civitarese picked up the shutout win for the Generals.

The Wasps will now await the announcement of the All-ODAC Teams which will be released with the conclusion of the 2014 ODAC Tournament.
