Emory & Henry Men’s Soccer Announces Schedule For 2015 Season

EMORY, Va. - The Emory & Henry College Men's Soccer Team and Head Coach Robert Richardson have released the schedule for the 2015 campaign. The squad will play an 18-match schedule, mixing eight home and 10 away contests.

The Wasps get the season started on Tuesday, September 1 when they host the Scots of Maryville (Tenn.) College. The 7:30 p.m., match will be the nightcap of a doubleheader with the E&H women. Emory & Henry will return to Indiana on Friday, September 4 and Saturday, September 5 to play in the "Raven-Quaker Classic" for a second year. Last season, the Wasps went 1-0-1, playing a pair of double overtime matches to claim tournament runner-up honors.

The next weekend will see another road trip for Emory & Henry, this time to the north of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Wasps will take on Valley Forge College on Friday and Cairn College on Saturday before returning to the Commonwealth to begin Old Dominion Athletic Conference play.

E&H completes its five-match road trip with its ODAC opener against Virginia Wesleyan College (Sat., Sept. 19). The Wasps will then return home to step out of league play against Warren Wilson College (Tues., Sept. 22 – 6:00 p.m.) before a conference match against Randolph-Macon College on Saturday, September 26 at 3:00 p.m.

Two road matches then await the Wasps before a three-game homestand. E&H will play Guilford College (Wed., Oct. 7 – 6:30 p.m.) and then face off against Shenandoah University on Saturday, October 10 at 5:30 p.m. The final match of the stretch will be on the Friday evening of Homecoming Weekend with Emory & Henry taking on Roanoke College at 6:30 p.m.

After traveling to Ferrum College (Mon., Oct. 19) the Wasps conclude the regular season with four conference matches. Bridgewater College will visit Fred Selfe Stadium on Wednesday, October 21 at 6:30 p.m., and the regular season finale and Senior Night will be against Lynchburg College on the evening of Saturday, October 31 at 6:00 p.m.

"This season's ODAC schedule allows us the opportunity to play against every team in the conference and represents what being part of a competitive NCAA Division III conference is all about," said Richardson. "In addition, our non-conference schedule gives our student-athletes a unique opportunity to also compete against seven other quality teams hailing from five different states. This will allow our team to further discover not only the wide variety and depth of soccer played within Division III, but also represent Emory & Henry across the region."

The 2015 ODAC Men's Soccer Tournament will be played during the first week of November with exact dates yet to be determined. The top eight teams from the regular season will qualify with the quarterfinals to be played at the highest four seeds. The semifinals and championship game will be played at the highest remaining seed after the quarterfinals.
