Emory & Henry Men’s Soccer Adds Assistant Coaches For 2015 Season

EMORY, Va. – Emory & Henry College Head Men's Soccer Coach Robert Richardson has announced that Jared Eiriksson and Kenny Sterne will be joining the coaching staff, as assistant coaches. Both Eiriksson and Sterne join the coaching staff after completing their four-year playing careers with the program.

Jared Eiriksson played in 63 career matches while starting 45. A two-year team captain, he was named to the Raven-Quaker Classic All-tournament team his senior year. Eiriksson was also the recipient of team Wasp and Coaches Awards.

In high school, he was a three-year letterwinner at Kenston Forest High School, an all-conference first team selection and helped lead the team to a conference championship.  Additionally at youth level, he played for Chesterfield United FC.

While a student athlete, Eiriksson was heavily involved on campus with Relay for Life, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, served as a Resident Advisor, and was elected vice president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee two consecutive years. Eiriksson graduated with a double major in political science and history and is currently pursuing a master's degree in Education.

Kenny Sterne played in 64 matches over his career, starting 34. He was a team captain his senior year. Sterne was named the team's MVP two years in a row and was a recipient of the Coaches Award.

At the high school level, he was a standout for Holy Cross Regional Catholic School, earning All-Conference and All-State First Team honors, named Seven Hills Tournament MVP and helped lead the team to the tournament championship.  He also played club soccer for Central Virginia United.

While a student-athlete, he was a member of Beta Beta Beta Biology Honor Society, and the Bonner Scholars program, where he was heavily involved in community service such as Mary's Lunch Box and after-school tutoring with area elementary and Middle School students. Sterne is completing his Bachelor's degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry.

"I am extremely happy that Jared and Kenny have agreed to join the coaching staff at their alma mater," said Richardson. "Their commitment, drive and passion to help move the program forward as student-athletes - and now as members of the coaching staff - is invaluable to this young team."
