Emory & Henry Men’s Soccer Announces Team Captains For 2016 Season

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Soccer Team is pleased to announce that Chandler Copeland, David Jackson and Zach Quest have been named captains for the 2016 season.

"I'm excited about the opportunity and upcoming season," Copeland stated. "Our squad is stronger than ever and the team chemistry is ideal for a successful year."

Copeland, a junior defender from Newport News, Virginia, will be the team captain. He is currently studying in E&H's rigorous Athletic Training program. Over the past two seasons, Copeland has played in 25 matches, starting 22. He was also named to the 2014 Raven-Quaker Classic All-Tournament team.

Jackson and Quest will serve as the team's vice captains in addition to their roles as men's soccer representatives on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Jackson, a junior from Newport News, Virginia will be one of the team's captains for a second year. Quest, a senior from Charlotte, North Carolina, is also heavily involved on campus, serving as a tutor in the Quantitative Literacy Center.

Over his career, Quest has played in 42 matches, starting 34 from his attacking midfield position. He has scored five career goals including the second-fastest goal in school history (28 seconds - at Anderson University in 2014), which led to his selection as the 2014 Raven-Quaker Classic Tournament MVP. Jackson has played in 30 matches with 17 starts over the past two seasons.

The Emory & Henry Men's Soccer Team will kick off the 2016 campaign on Thursday, September 1 at Ferrum College. The Wasps and Panthers will meet for the sixth-straight season, and 16th-time overall. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
