Emory & Henry Men’s Soccer Blows By Welch, 6-1, Monday Evening At Home

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Soccer Team (3-1-1) opened up a 2-0 halftime lead and rolled to a 6-1 victory over Welch College (0-2) Monday evening at home.

How It Happened
- Emory & Henry opened the scoring at the 4:57 mark when junior midfielder Bryce Williams (Bristol, Tenn.) finished a flick-on from freshman defender Josh Helton (Talbott, Tenn.) served up by senior defender Massimo Tager (Asheville, N.C.).
-  Sophomore forward Jeff Hurlock (Fredericksburg, Va.) received a cross from junior defender Jackson Kaze (Midlothian, Va.) that he headed to the back post in the 22nd minute.
- After the break, Tager found the scoring column just 1:25 into the half, assisted by sophomore defender C.J. Poulsen (Roanoke, Va.) to push the margin to 3-0. Nine minutes later, Tager struck again, converting a free kick to the top right of the goal.
- Emory & Henry extended its lead to 6-0 with goals in the 62nd and 73rd minutes. Sophomore forward Jonathan Hoyte (Chesapeake, Va.) took a pass from freshman midfielder Ryan Boyette (Fredericksburg, Va.) and placed it in the back of the net. Junior midfielder Jack Randalow (Chesterfield, Va.) collected a loose ball at the top of the box and squeezed it into the right corner.
- Welch spoiled the shutout with 6:08 to play when Joseph Cooper scored. Michael Fulcher was credited with the assist.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Tager had two goals and an assist on five shots while freshman midfielder Zeke Workman (Dalzell, Va.) put up six shots and four on target.
- Senior Morgan Moser (Sweetwater, Tenn.) earned the win as he played 61:17.

Welch Individual Leaders
- The Flames managed just six shots in the match led by Ethan Ivy with four shots while Cooper scored his goal on two shots.
- Mack Waddell made 11 saves despite the loss, playing the first 67:43 in goal.

- Emory & Henry will be on the road this weekend with a pair of matches at Regent University (Saturday) and Mid-Atlantic Christian University (Sunday).
