Anderson Men’s Soccer Defeats Emory & Henry, 3-1, Saturday Afternoon

ANDERSON, Ind. – The Anderson (Ind.) University Men's Soccer Team (1-1) broke open a one-all tie with a score late in the first half on its way to a 3-1 victory over visiting Emory & Henry College (0-1) in the Raven/Quaker Classic Saturday afternoon.

The start of the contest was delayed by a half hour and the venue changed to the Ravens' turf field due to heavy rains passing through Central Indiana.

How It Happened
- Anderson got on the board just 95 seconds into the contest with Usman Kamara scoring, assisted by Matthew Murray.
- The Wasps equalized less than two minutes later with senior midfielder Ethan Taylor (Powhatan, Va.) finding junior midfielder Ryan Boyette (Fredericksburg, Va.) for the score.
- With 1:02 to go before the halftime whistle, AU made it a 2-1 contest. Rico Mandolini put his mark in the scoring column with Drew Vaughan earning the assist.
- The Ravens tacked on an insurance goal in the 81st minute as Murray connected with Drew Sonnefeldt for the goal.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Boyette paced the E&H offense with four shots including the team's goal while sophomore midfielder Louis Pereira-Scott (Glasgow, SCOTLAND) added a pair of attempts.
- Junior goalkeeper Spencer Scott (Stephens City, Va.) made four saves despite the loss.

Anderson (Ind.) Individual Leaders
- Caleb Gonser put up four shots for the Ravens while Sonnefeldt and Kamara scored their goals off three chances.
- Danny Moro-Medina made three saves in goal in the winning effort.

- Emory & Henry will be back in action on Sunday afternoon as it concludes play in the Raven/Quaker Classic, facing Earlham College at 2:00 p.m.
