How It Happened
- Emory & Henry's defense had a bend-not-break mentality throughout the opening half as they turned away 12 shots including seven which went on goal.
- After the break, E&H got on the board at the 52:58 mark after a foul inside the box resulted in a penalty kick being awarded. Junior forward Ryan Boyette (Fredericksburg, Va.) stepped to the spot and converted the penalty for the 1-0 lead.
- Salem's attack became more erratic in the second 45 minutes, as Emory & Henry steadily gained a stronger grasp on the contest. With 1:15 left to play, the Wasps put the exclamation point on the contest as freshman forward Jado Masambeta (Uvira, DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF THE CONGO) curled a ball around the post from the end line for his first collegiate goal and the final 2-0 margin.
