Three Second-Half Goals Lift Wasps Past Coker, 3-1, Saturday Evening

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Emory & Henry University Men's Soccer Team (4-3-2, 3-1-1 SAC) kept rolling Saturday night as the Wasps downed previously unbeaten Coker University (1-1-5, 1-1-2 SAC) in South Atlantic Conference action. With the win, the Wasps' unbeaten streak moves to six games and counting. The win also puts Emory & Henry in a tie for first place atop the SAC standings.

How It Happened
- The teams went back-and-forth to begin the match with each squad firing a trio of attempts at goal. The Cobras were first on the scoreboard in the 43rd minute when Alexis Abalam dished to Florian Senst who found the back of the net to make it 1-0, where the score would hold until the half.
- The Wasps broke through in the 55th minute as freshman forward Jean-Charles Eyidi (Briollay, FRANCE) tallied his first goal in an Emory & Henry uniform to knot things up at 1-1. E&H took the lead in the 68th minute on a goal by freshman defender Leo Mimbele (Paris, FRANCE), set up by fellow freshman midfielder Noah Serwy (Liege, BELGIUM) to give the Wasps the 2-1 advantage. The visitors from Emory were not done however, as Eyidi put the finishing touches on the victory when he completed his brace of goals unassisted in the 88th minute to run the score to its final at 3-1 and put the Wasps on top of the SAC.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Eyidi was the leader for E&H as he tallied his pair of goals on six total shots, two of which were on frame. Serwy recorded an assist on two shots while Mimbele struck with his lone attempt of the evening. Three other Wasps finished the night with a shot.
- Junior goalkeeper Baptiste Berthozat (Saint-Martin-de-Crau, FRANCE) registered three saves in net to earn his fourth win of the season.

Coker Individual Leaders
- Senst scored his goal with a joint team-high three shots while Rylan Bowers had three attempts as well. Five other Cobras had a crack at the net.
- Ismael Caria made one stop in goal for Coker.

Up Next
- The Wasps have an 11-day break before returning to the road on Wednesday, October 15 when they travel to face off against the Pioneers of Tusculum University. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. as the nightcap of a doubleheader with the women's team.
