Emory & Henry Men’s & Women’s Swimming Compete Against Catawba and Lees-McRae Over The Weekend

SALISBURY, N.C./BOONE, N.C. – The Emory & Henry College Men's & Women's Swimming Teams kept their season rolling as they competed against Catawba College and Lees-McRae College in a pair of double duals on Friday and Saturday. The men's team saw another three program records fall over the course of the weekend.

Friday's Basics

The Men
- E&H opened the meet with a third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay as the squad of freshman Corey Kidd (Stockbridge, Ga.), Payton Nabors (Lawrenceville, Ga.), junior Ryan Spangler (Daleville, Va.) and freshman Kyle Berry (Ringgold, Ga.) went a 1:32.10.
- Kidd posted a new school record in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:03.59 to finish fifth while freshman Aiden Quertermous (Awendaw, S.C.) was fifth in the 200-yard backstroke, hitting the wall in 2:05.54.
- Nabors grabbed a record in the 200-yard butterfly with a runner-up swim of 2:02.41 and was fifth in the 500-yard freestyle (5:05.91).
- Berry finished tied for fourth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of :50.00 even.
- Kidd, Berry, freshman Andrew Boggus (Virginia Beach, Va.) and Quertermous closed out the day with a 3:47.41 in the 400-yard medley relay to take fourth.

The Women
- The Wasps got the day started in the 200-yard freestyle relay as freshmen Tilly Craddock (Christiansburg, Va.), Alyssa Price (Clintwood, Va.), Rachel Ritter (Gibsonville, N.C.) and Danyelle Dukes (Center Point, Ala.) went a 1:53.07 to finish fourth.
- Freshman Paige Gelenski (Boca Raton, Fla.) was third in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:32.39 and also claimed third in the 200-yard butterfly (2:21.56).
- Ritter took fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:12.58 and was fifth in the 200-yard individual medley (2:27.46).
- In the 200-yard backstroke, freshman Peyton Helscher (Simi Valley, Calif.) placed fifth, clocking a 2:26.94.
- E&H closed the day with a fourth-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay as Helcher, senior Cat Sweigart (Bridgewater, Va.), Gelenski and Dukes swam a 4:37.78.

The Men
- The Wasps got Saturday started with a third-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay as junior Noah Wilson (Frederick, Md.), freshman Morgan Cassell (Hubert, N.C.), Nabors and Spangler went a 1:44.21.
- Berry was the runner-up in the 100-yard butterfly (:54.26) while Cassell touched the wall fourth in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:29.24).
- Quertermous set a new E&H top mark in the 400-yard individual medley as his performance of 4:31.55 was good for third.
- Boggus was fifth in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:16.20 as Kidd took fourth in the 200-yard freestyle (1:50.79) and fifth in the 100-yard backstroke in :57.71.
- E&H completed its weekend with Spangler, Wilson, freshman Conor Douthat (Bluefield, Va.) and Boggus swimming a 3:35.15 in the 400-yard freestyle to finish fourth.

The Women
- E&H opened the action by finishing fourth in the 200-yard medley relay as Helscher, Price, Dukes and Croddock went a 2:08.98.
- Helscher was fourth in the 100-yard backstroke (1:10.12) and fifth in the 1,000-yard freestyle (12:00.23).
- Ritter went a 2:38.48 in the 200-yard breaststroke to finish second while Sweigart posted a time of :27.18 to take fifth in the 50-yard freestyle.
- Gelenski touched the wall fourth in the 400-yard individual medley (5:03.35) was fifth in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:03.45.
- Craddock was fifth in the 200-yard freestyle (2:09.48).
- The Wasps finished the meet with a third-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay as Craddock, Ritter, Sweigart and Gelenksi finished in 4:01.83.
