Emory & Henry Men’s & Women’s Swimming Take On King And Lenoir-Rhyne Saturday

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The Emory & Henry College Men's & Women's Swimming Teams each competed in a double dual against King (Tenn.) University and Lenoir-Rhyne University Saturday on the road. The Tornado and Bears both picked up a sweep over the Wasps on the afternoon as E&H won a total of three events.

The Men
- Freshman Matthew Gocke (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) won the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:46.26.
- Freshman Corey Kidd (Stockbridge, Ga.) was the runner-up in the 100-yard freestyle (:48.75) and the 100-yard butterfly (:54.08) while taking third in the 100-yard individual medley at :55.65.
- Freshman Kyle Berry (Ringgold, Ga.) posted a second-place finish with in the 50-yard backstroke, clocking a :25.53 and was third in the 50-free (:23.50) and 100-back (:56.04).
- Freshman Payton Nabors (Lawrenceville, Ga.) notched a second-place performance in the 500-yard freestyle as he stopped the watches in 5:13.17 while freshman Aiden Quertermous (Awendaw, S.C.) was third in the 200-free at 1:52.79.
- Freshman Andrew Boggus (Virginia Beach, Va.) finished third in the 50-yard butterfly (:25.79) as well as the 1,000-free (11:25.51).
- The relay of Kidd, Gocke, Boggus and Berry closed the meet as they swam the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:32.92 to take second.

The Women
- Freshman Tilly Craddock (Christiansburg, Va.) won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:07.03.
- Freshman Paige Gelenski (Boca Raton, Fla.) touched the wall first in the 500-free (5:37.89) and was second in the 100-fly at 1:04.76.
- Senior Cat Sweigart (Bridgewater, Va.) took third in the 50-yard freestyle, clocking a :26.73.
- In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Gelenski, freshman Danyelle Dukes (Center Point, Ala.), Sweigart and Craddock went a 1:50.83 to finish third.

Up Next
- Emory & Henry will complete the regular season next Saturday when it hosts Lees-McRae College at 1:00 p.m. The meet will also serve as Senior Day for the Wasps who will honor their three seniors prior to the first event.
