Emory & Henry Men’s Tennis Takes Care Of John Carroll 7-2, Tuesday On The Road

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Tennis Team (6-3) bounced back on Tuesday afternoon with a 7-2 victory over John Carroll University at Hilton Head High School.

E&H got out to a 2-1 lead in the doubles segment of the match. Juniors Matt Nelson (Galax, Va.) and Adam Henderson (Abingdon, Va.) won the first flight while seniors Chip Wintringham (Burlington, N.C.) and Mike Young (Lawrenceville, Ga.) took the victory at number two.

Emory & Henry took the first five singles matches to give them the 7-2 victory. Young put up a (6-1, 6-0) performance at number four singles that clinched the day for the Wasps. Nelson picked up a three-set win at the top singles position. Junior Webster Gilley (Bristol, Tenn.) won the fifth singles flight (6-1, 6-0) as well for E&H.

The Wasps will return to action on Wednesday when they face the Cougars of Misericordia University at 1:00 p.m.
