Emory & Henry Men's Tennis Rolls Over Roanoke, 9-0, Wednesday Afternoon

SALEM, Va. - The Emory & Henry College Men's Tennis Team (11-3, 4-1 ODAC) picked up a clean sweep of Roanoke College (1-5, 0-3 ODAC) Wednesday afternoon at the Elizabeth Campus Tennis Courts in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action.

Emory & Henry jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the doubles portion of the competition.  Juniors Matt Nelson (Galax, Va.) and Adam Henderson (Abingdon, Va.) picked up an 8-1 win to lead the Wasps.

Nelson also won at number one singles by a (6-2, 6-2) score while senior Chip Wintringham (Burlington, N.C.) took home a (6-0, 6-2) victory at the second singles flight. Senior Mike Young (Lawrenceville, Ga.) also had a strong performance at number four singles, winning (6-1, 6-3).

Juniors Webster Gilley (Bristol, Tenn.) and Zach Eccher (Madison, Ala.) both picked up three-set wins for the Wasps as well.

Emory & Henry has now won 11 of its last 12 matches and is undefeated in its last six.

The Wasps will travel to Lynchburg on Saturday and Sunday for a pair of ODAC matches. E&H will take on Randolph College on Saturday at 1:00 p.m., and is set to face Lynchburg College at 2:00 p.m. Sunday.
