LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Emory & Henry College Men's Tennis Team (13-3, 6-1 ODAC) won a pair of Old Dominion Athletic Conference matches this weekend at The Sports Racket on the campus of Liberty University. The Wasps defeated the WildCats of Randolph College by a 7-1 score on Saturday afternoon and won, 7-2, over the Hornets of Lynchburg College on Sunday morning. With the victories, the Wasps have all but solidified hosting the quarterfinal round of the 2012 ODAC Tournament.

Saturday - Emory & Henry 7, Randolph 1

Emory & Henry got out to a 2-0 lead after the doubles portion of the match with the number one team of juniors Matt Nelson (Galax, Va.) and Adam Henderson (Abingdon, Va.) and the number two pair of senior Chip Wintringham (Burlington, N.C.) and junior Webster Gilley (Bristol, Tenn.) winning by 8-0 scores. The third doubles match was left unfinished due to severe weather in the area.

In singles play, the Wasps swept the first five flights to take the contest. Nelson, Wintringham and Henderson each won by (6-1, 6-0) scores while junior Zach Eccher (Madison, Ala.) picked up a (6-0, 6-2) victory.

The Wasps began the match with a hot hand, two of the three doubles matchews. The first (Nelson/Henderson) and second (Wintringham/Gilley) flights each won by 8-2 scores.

Henderson led E&H at number three singles, winning (6-0, 6-0) while Eccher dropped just two games (6-1, 6-1) at number five singles.

Emory & Henry will travel to Salisbury University on Wednesday for a 3:00 p.m., non-conference match with the Seagulls.
