Emory & Henry Men’s Tennis Defeats Concord, 6-3, Thursday Afternoon

ATHENS, W.Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Tennis Team (1-0) picked up a 6-3 victory over Concord University (0-1) Thursday in the Wasps' only dual match of the fall season.

E&H got out to 2-1 advantage after the doubles portion on the match. Seniors Matt Nelson (Galax, Va.) and Adam Henderson (Abingdon, Va.) won, 9-7, at number one doubles while freshmen James Keighley (Heswall, Mercyside, ENGLAND) and Alex Minasyan (Moscow, RUSSIA) earned an 8-2 victory at the second doubles flight.

In the singles portion of the match, Nelson won (6-0, 7-5) at number two singles while Minasyan (6-1, 6-1) picked up the win at No. 3 singles.

Henderson earned a (7-6 (1), 6-1) win at the fourth singles flight while senior Zach Eccher (Madison, Ala.) won (6-1, 6-4) at number five singles.

Emory & Henry will travel to Atlanta, Ga., to compete in the USTA/ITA South Regional Championships. Emory University will host the tournament from Friday, September 28 to Sunday, September 30.
