EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Tennis Team posted a 15-7 record last season, finishing fourth in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. The Wasps had a streak where they won 13 of 14 contests, with the lone setback coming to league-champion Washington and Lee University. E&H also reached the semifinals of the ODAC Tournament for a second-straight year, defeating Randolph-Macon College by a 5-2 score at home in the quarterfinals.

For all those accomplishments, Emory & Henry saw four of its players named to the All-ODAC teams. Matt Nelson (Galax, Va.) and Adam Henderson (Abingdon, Va.) were named first-team all-conference after posting a perfect 9-0 record in league doubles matches and a 17-2 mark overall. Chip Wintringham and Mike Young earned Second-Team All-ODAC honors at the second doubles flight with Wintringham adding all-league accolades for singles.

This season, the Wasps return four of their six top players from a year ago under second-year Head Coach Dustin Hale. E&H also welcomes two international freshmen that will make an immediate impact in the ODAC in Alex Minasyan (Moscow, RUSSIA) and James Keighley (Heswall, Mercyside, ENGLAND).

During the fall portion of the season, Emory & Henry defeated Concord University, 6-3, and competed in two individual tournaments.

At the Kenyon Invitational, Nelson and Henderson posted a 10th-place finish in the A Doubles draw while Minasyan and Keighley tied for 11th in B Doubles. In singles, Henderson finished tied for seventh, both Keighley and Minasyan finished 10th and Nelson tied for 11th.

In the NCAA Division III/ITA Southeast Regional Championship hosted by Emory University, Keighley and Minasyan reached the final of the B Doubles flight, falling by an 8-6 score to Emory's Tim Lam and Dylan Kady.

Nelson and Henderson reached the round of 16 in the doubles Main Draw, defeating Patrick Hire and Christian Matthews of Birmingham-Southern College, 8-4. Nelson, Henderson and Keighley each fell in hard-fought three-set matches in the first round of the singles Main Draw.

Emory & Henry will open the spring portion of its season at home on Saturday, February 16 when it hosts Greensboro College. First serve is set for 2:00 p.m.
