Emory & Henry Men’s Tennis Blanks Hampden-Sydney, 9-0, To Open ODAC Play Saturday

SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Tennis Team (2-1, 1-0 ODAC) got back on track Saturday afternoon with a 9-0 rout of Hampden-Sydney College (0-3, 0-1 ODAC) to open Old Dominion Athletic Conference play. The match was played on the campus of Sweet Briar College.

Senior Matt Nelson (Galax, Va.) picked up a 6-0, 6-2 win at number three singles. Freshmen James Keighley (Heswall, Mercyside, ENGLAND) and Alex Minasyan (Moscow, RUSSIA) each claimed victories in straight sets at number one and number two singles, respectively.

Nelson teamed up with senior Adam Henderson (Abingdon, Va.) for an 8-3 win at the top doubles flight while Minasyan and senior Zach Eccher (Madison, Ala.) won by the same margin at No. 3 doubles.

Emory & Henry will travel to Hilton Head Island, S.C., for four matches next week.
