Emory & Henry Men’s Tennis Takes Down John Carroll, 9-0, Monday Morning

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Tennis Team (3-1) picked up a 9-0 victory over John Carroll University Monday morning at Hilton Head High School. The contest was the first of four matches to be played this week during the Wasps' Spring Break trip.

All three doubles matches went easily to the hands of E&H as well as 2-6 singles. Freshman James Keighley (Heswall, Mercyside, ENGLAND) rallied from being down a set and 4-1 in the second frame to pick up the win at the top individual flight.

Freshman Alex Minasyan (Moscow, RUSSIA) won 6-1, 6-0 at the number two singles flight while senior Matt Nelson (Galax, Va.) was perfect in his No. 3 singles match.

In doubles play, the Wasps only dropped six games over three matches with Minasyan and senior Zach Eccher (Madison, Ala.) winning by a 8-1 score at number three.

Emory & Henry will have two matches on Tuesday as it will face Regis (Mass.) College at noon and will take on Wilkes University at 6:30 p.m.
