James Keighley Named ODAC Men’s Tennis Player Of The Week

FOREST, Va. - Emory & Henry College's James Keighley has been selected as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week, ODAC officials announced Monday afternoon. It is the first time since Matt Nelson (Galax, Va.) earned the honor a year ago that an E&H player has been selected for the weekly award.

The freshman from Heswall, Mercyside, ENGLAND, led the Wasps to a 4-0 week, with victories over John Carroll University, Regis (Mass.) College, Wilkes University and Wittenberg University in Hilton Head Island, S.C.

Keighley went 3-0 at the top singles flight and 4-0 at number two doubles as Emory & Henry moved to 6-1 on the year. He defeated strong players from Wilkes and Wittenberg in straight sets to help the Wasps go perfect last week.

Along with doubles partner senior Webster Gilley (Bristol, Tenn.), Keighley picked up four solid wins including a pair of 8-2 decisions over John Carroll and Regis. The pair are currently 6-0 on the year.

Emory & Henry will return to ODAC play on Saturday afternoon when it faces Virginia Wesleyan College and Randolph-Macon College in Lexington, Va.
