UVA-Wise Men's Tennis Slips By Emory & Henry, 5-4, Saturday

EMORY, Va. - The University of Virginia's College at Wise's Men's Tennis Team (2-2) got a 5-4 win over Emory & Henry College (1-1) Saturday morning at the Richardson Tennis Courts. The match served as the Wasps' inaugural Breast Cancer Awarness Match, with proceeds going to benefit Relay For Life and the American Cancer Society.

The Highland Cavaliers took a 2-1 lead after the doubles portion of the match. E&H got their point from the No. 3 doubles team of junior John Hanlon (Bristol, Tenn.) and sophomore Jonathan Romano (Bland, Va.), who won 8-6.

Emory & Henry claimed victories at the second, third and sixth singles flights. Freshman John Ferguson (Gate City, Va.) earned a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles while senior Webster Gilley (Bristol, Tenn.) won, (6-3, 6-2), at the third singles spot. Hanlon made a 2-0 day with a 6-0, 6-2 win at the sixth singles flight.

The Wasps will next take the court on Wednesday when they host Southern Virginia University at 3:30 p.m.
