Hampden-Sydney Men’s Tennis Defeats Emory & Henry, 7-2, Saturday In ODAC Action

ROANOKE, Va. – The Hampden-Sydney College Men's Tennis Team (1-1, 1-0 ODAC) picked up a 7-2 win over Emory & Henry College (1-3, 0-1 ODAC) in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference opener for both schools. The match took place on the campus of Hollins University.

The Tigers got out to a 3-0 lead after doubles and claimed the third through sixth flights of singles play to win the match.

Emory & Henry got its two wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 singles spots. Sophomore Alex Minasyan (Moscow, RUSSIA) picked up a 6-1, 6-4 victory at the premier singles pairing while freshman John Ferguson (Gate City, Va.) earned a 6-1, 6-1 win at the second flight.

E&H will be back in action on Sunday at noon when it hosts Randolph-Macon College in ODAC action. The match will be played in conjunction with the Wasp women, who are also taking on the Yellow Jackets.
