Assumption Men’s Tennis Sweeps Emory & Henry, 9-0, Wednesday Afternoon

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Assumption College Men's Tennis Team (3-4) picked up a 9-0 sweep of Emory & Henry College (2-7) Wednesday afternoon at Hilton Head High School. The Greyhounds are a member of NCAA Division II and the Northeast-10 Conference.

Assumption got out to a 3-0 lead after the doubles portion of the match. The Wasps' best performance came at the third flight as junior John Hanlon (Bristol, Tenn.) and sophomore Jonathan Romano (Bland, Va.) fell by an 8-6 score.

In singles play, E&H got strong matches from freshman John Ferguson (Gate City, Va.) at No. 2 and freshman Eric Logan (Abingdon, Va.) at the fifth flight.

Emory & Henry completes its slate of matches in Hilton Head with a 1-3 record. The Wasps will return to action on Sunday afternoon when they travel to face the Hornets of Shenandoah University. The Old Dominion Athletic Conference contest will begin at 1:00 p.m.
