Emory & Henry Men’s Tennis Downs Ferrum, 7-2, Saturday on The Road

FERRUM, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Tennis Team (2-1) capped off its fall portion of competition on Saturday afternoon with a 7-2 win over Ferrum College (0-1) at the Burrows-Skeens Tennis Complex.

The Wasps got out to a 2-1 lead after the doubles portion of the competition. Freshman Dillan Dodson (Hampton, Va.) and junior Jonathan Romano (Bland, Va.) earned an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles while sophomore Luke Funkhouser (Gate City, Va.) and sophomore Kamil Aliev (Moscow, RUSSIA) won 8-2 at the third doubles pairing.

Emory & Henry sealed the win with five singles victories. Sophomore John Ferguson (Gate City, Va.) came out on top, 6-0 6-2, at the premier singles flight while Aliev won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. Funkhouser claimed a 6-2, 6-3 win at the fourth spot while sophomore Eric Logan (Abingdon, Va.) and Dodson won at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.

E&H has completed its fall slate of matches and will look to get revenge against Averett University on February 27, 2015 at Richardson Tennis Courts. The Wasps fell by a 5-4 score to the Cougars in their first match of the fall.
