Men's Tennis Team Drops ODAC Opener at Washington and Lee, 5-0

Lexington, Va. - The Emory & Henry men's tennis team drops their ODAC opener of the 2014-2015 season. After starting off 2-1 in the Fall portion of the season, the Wasps are now 2-2 as the drop their first ODAC match to five-time defending ODAC champion, Washington and Lee, who improved to 5-0 on the season. The Wasps and Generals played to decision, which led to only 5 of the matches being completed.

John Dalton Ferguson (Gate City, Va.) and Alex Polydoroff (Falcon Heights, Minn.) kicked off the match at the number one doubles spot. The pair lost the match 8-0. However, at the two spot Jonathan Romano (Bland, Va.) and Dillan Dodson (Hampton, Va.) were able to steal a game while going down 8-1. At the final doubles spot, the team of Kamil Aliev (Moscow, RUSSIA) and Luke Funkhouser (Gate City, Va.) went down 8-1 as well.

Aliev started at the one spot in singles for the Wasps. Aliev was only able to get one win, as he went down 6-0,6-1. Ferguson, who predominantly played at the 2 spot last season, went down 6-0,6-2. Freshman Alex Polydoroff was doing relatively well for the Wasps before the final decision of the match was made. Against his first ODAC opponent, Polydoroff was down 4-2 against the Generals number 3 player.

The Wasps take action against ODAC foe Virginia Wesleyan tomorrow at 9 a.m. in Lexington, Va.
