E&H Men's Tennis Takes Down Heidelberg University, 7-2, in Hilton Head

Hilton Head, S.C. – The Wasps (3-5, 0-2 ODAC) defeated Heidelberg (0-5) Thursday morning in the PTR Tennis SpringFest. With an overall score of 7-2, the Wasps ended their four match losing streak. E&H swept the doubles draws for the first time since their match at Southern Virginia in the fall when the team won, overall, 9-0.

Luke Funkhouser (Gate City, Va.) and Kamil Aliev (Moscow, RUSSIA) beat the Heidelberg ones, 8-3, in a thrilling match. John Dalton Ferguson (Gate City, Va.) and Dillan Dodson (Hampton, VA.) also won by a score of 8-3 at two. While Jonathan Romano (Bland, Va.) and Alex Polydoroff (Falcon Heights, Minn.) won easily at the three spot, 8-0.

John Dalton Ferguson was down 6-2, 2-0, when he retired from the match. Aliev was not able to pick up the victory while falling 6-3, 6-1. Polydoroff dominated the third flight, 6-0, 6-0, to seal the victory for the Wasps. Funkhouser won 6-0, 6-4. Dodson cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 victory. Eric Logan (Abingdon, Va.) rounded out the team's overall victory by winning convincingly, 6-0, 6-0.

The Wasps plays Gordon in their final match of the Hilton Head trip Friday morning at 9 a.m.
