Emory, Va. – The Emory & Henry Wasps men's tennis team (5-7, 2-4 ODAC) fell to the Quakers of Guilford College (8-4, 7-2 ODAC) at home Sunday afternoon, thus bringing their home record to 1-2 on the season.

The match started off with a tough loss at one doubles, after falling 8-4.  The tandem of Kamil Aliev (Moscow, RUSSIA) and Luke Funkhouser (Gate City, Va.) fall to a record of 2-8 on the season.  With an 8-3 finish at 2 doubles John Dalton Ferguson (Gate City, Va.) and Dillan Dodson (Hampton, Va.) showed some fight, but regrettably could not get the victory.  To finish up doubles, Jonathan Romano (Bland, Va.) and Alex Polydoroff (Falcon Heights, Minn.) lost by a score of 8-6 in an exceedingly competitive match.

Already down 3-0 in the match, the Wasps dropped the first two flights in singles play.  Dalton lost 6-0, 6-2, while Aliev lost 3-6, 6-2, 6-2.  At five and six singles, the team did not have much more luck. Dodson and Eric Logan (Abingdon, Va.) lost 6-2, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-0, respectively.

Freshman Polydoroff continues his dominance at three for the Wasps, however. He picked up the only win for the Wasps in a thrilling match, winning 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 10-7. In matches finished, Polydoroff has not lost a singles match since March 8th vs. Virginia Wesleyan.  With a record of 9-4, Polydoroff leads the team in victories.  The freshman also leads the ODAC in winning percentage (.833) at the three spot while going 5-1.

The Wasps next match on the season is this Monday at home vs. Roanoke. The match will be played at Richardson Tennis Courts at 4 p.m.
