Roanoke College Shuts Out the Wasps, 5-0, Monday Afternoon

Emory, Va. – The Emory & Henry men's tennis team (5-8, 2-5 ODAC) suffered a defeat against Old Dominion Athletic Conference opponent Roanoke College (7-7, 3-4 ODAC) Monday afternoon at Richardson Tennis Courts, in the Wasps final home match of the season.  Due to weather, the match was played to decision, making the 5-0 loss the Wasps third straight loss.  Coming in to the match, the Wasps were seventh in the conference, while the Maroons were sixth.

Luke Funkhouser (Gate City, Va.) and Kamil Aliev (Moscow, RUSSIA) fell at one doubles with an 8-3 defeat.  At two doubles, John Dalton Ferguson (Gate City, Va.) and Dillan Dodson (Hampton, Va.) were locked into a competitive match, but went down 8-5.  At three, Jonathan Romano (Bland, Va.) and Alex Polydoroff (Falcon Heights, Va.) also fell by a score of 8-5.

Aliev finished his singles match at the second flight, but lost 6-2, 6-1.  Eric Logan (Abingdon, Va.) also dropped his match 6-2, 6-1 at six singles, which sealed the team's setback.

In the Wasps next match, the team will travel to Bridgewater, Va. on Saturday, April 11th to take on the Eagles of Bridgewater College.
