Emory & Henry Men's Tennis Falls, 7-2, to Drew University in Hilton Head

Hilton Head, S.C. - Emory & Henry men's tennis (1-3, 0-0 ODAC) faced off against Drew University (2-0) in their annual trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina Saturday Morning.  The Wasps lost to the Bears by a score of 7-2.  The match is the first of two that the Wasps will play on the Spring break trip.

The match started off with both the one and two doubles teams losing 8-3.  With only five players on the trip, three doubles and six singles was forfeited.

The team did see some success at singles, however.  John Dalton Ferguson (Gate City, Va.) dominated Drew's number one player, winning 6-4, 6-1.  At two singles, Luke Funkhouser (Gate City, Va.) fell 6-1, 6-1.  Liam Davidson (Newport News, Va.) also lost by a score of 6-1, 6-2 at the third flight.  Andrew McClung (Roanoke, Va.) played in a strong match, in which the freshman won 6-2, 3-6, 10-4 at the four spot.  At five James Watson-Dare (Charlotte, N.C.) started strong, but ultimately fell 7-5, 6-0. 

The Wasps next match is set for Saturday in Hilton Head versus Eastern Nazarene.
