Emory & Henry Men's Tennis Falls in ODAC Matchup, 8-1, Saturday Afternoon

Greensboro, N.C. - The Emory & Henry men's tennis team (1-8, 0-4 ODAC) dropped a match, 8-1, against ODAC opponent Guilford College (3-6, 3-2 ODAC), Saturday afternoon.  The loss is the team's seventh straight loss.  The Wasps continue to look for their elusive first ODAC win of the season.

At one doubles, John Dalton Ferguson (Gate City, Va.) and Luke Funkhouser (Gate City, Va.) played well, but wound up losing 8-5 to the Quakers number one duo.  Two and three doubles were both shut out 8-0.

Despite a close loss at one doubles, Ferguson came back at one singles and beat his opponent 6-0, 6-4 in the team's lone victory.  Kamil Aliev (Moscow, RUSSIA) took his opponent to three sets at two singles.  Aliev did end up losing 1-6, 6-2, 6-2.  Funkhouser went down at three singles, 6-2, 6-3.  Both Andrew McClung (Roanoke, Va.) and James Watson-Dare (Charlotte, N.C.) were shut out, 6-0, 6-0, at four and five, respectively.  In his first match as a member of the men's team, Jared Carter (Gate City, Va.) lost 6-0, 6-0.

The Wasps will look to earn their first ODAC win tomorrow at Roanoke College.
